Justin's birthday coming up. Buy him a cake, count the candles. Light them, blow them out.

Promised myself I'd break away from my work long enough to take Kaden out to dinner. That's right, take him out to dinner, not him taking me. I might even eat an entree, rather than a salad, just to see him smile.

Problem is, I don't know how to explain to the lab tech what's going on and my head researcher isn't going to be back in the lab until tomorrow.

I'll have to put things on pause.

I promised him. But this is for his own good.

He's broken enough promises to me.

Except I'm a good person. I can't do that to him.

He's hurt. He's always so hurt. I can't hurt him more until he claws off his skin to make me come home.
